Ta Xua 2-Day Trek

Embark on a thrilling 2-day mountain adventure through the wild landscapes of Ta Xua, where dramatic ridgelines, rolling peaks, and the famous sea of clouds create one of the most breathtaking trekking experiences in northern Vietnam. Beginning from Hang Chu, the trail climbs steadily toward the Phu Sa Phin [2868m] summit, offering wide-open views, raw mountain scenery, and a true sense of remoteness that makes this journey feel far beyond the usual tourist path.

What makes this trek truly unforgettable is the route across the legendary Dinosaur Spine Ridge on the second day. After an overnight stay at a mountain hut and an optional sunrise moment in the clouds, the journey continues along one of the most iconic ridgelines in the region before descending toward Tram Tau. With its combination of summit views, cloud seas, mountain hut experience, and a dramatic ridge crossing, this trek is perfect for travelers seeking a wilder and more adventurous side of northwest Vietnam.

A wild 2-day trek to Phu Sa Phin (2,868m), featuring mossy forests, sea of clouds, and the iconic Dinosaur Spine Ridge.

Moss Forest & Dinosaur Spine Ridge

Ta Xua is one of the most striking mountain regions in northern Vietnam, celebrated for its endless ridgelines, rolling peaks, and spectacular sea of clouds. Rising to 2,868m, Phu Sa Phin is one of its most remarkable highlights, admired not only for its sweeping summit views but also for the mysterious beauty of its moss-covered forest. Rather than crowds or built attractions, it is the mountain’s raw, untouched character that leaves such a lasting impression.

What makes Ta Xua truly unforgettable is the legendary Dinosaur Spine Ridge, a narrow ridgeline stretching across the mountains like a natural spine above the valleys below. Combined with the vast cloud ocean, steep green slopes, and dramatic highland scenery, it gives the region a beauty that feels both powerful and cinematic. Ta Xua is a place defined by altitude, openness, and the thrilling shape of the land itself.
