The best time to visit is from September to early October, during the golden rice harvest season. Another great time is May to June, known as the water-pouring season, when the rice terraces are filled and ideal for photography and trekking.
You could visit Mu Cang Chai during the green rice season. From June to September, Mu Cang Chai offers a peaceful charm with lush green terraced fields stretching from valleys to hillsides. This is when the rice grows strongly after transplanting, covering the highlands with a vibrant green carpet.
